Is there a cure for malignant teratomas?

Chemotherapy can be carried out on patients suffering from malignant teratomas resulting in a disease free survival rate of 85%.

Is there a possibility of benign tumour recurring? If so, can it then be malignant?

A benign tumour can reoccur if there is a residual tissue left behind. If there were unrecognized areas of malignancy, the recurrence can be a malignant teratoma. The greatest risk for the latter is with the immature teratomas.

Is there any prevention for the teratoma?

There is no known prevention for the development of teratomas and other germ cell tumours.
